Every wedding is a great feast but this wedding in Amorgos, is a true celebration of life!
Amorgos is one of the hidden gems of Cyclades; magnificent beaches, unique natural beauty and white chapels make up the picture of this Greek island who starred in the movie “Big blue” of Luke Besson. One must confess…Amongst the numerous beauties of the island, the white chapel of Agia Anna is definitely one of my favorites spots! It is built upon a rock on the beach of Agia Anna, covered in blue and white colors, offering a magnificent view of the imposing monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa.. What more can be said? Orthodox tradition and Cycladic beauty create the perfect canvas for Yannis & Maria, where the only and most beautiful color is the blue of the Aegean sea. Luckily all these are reflected in the newlyweds photos, which I am more than happy to share!
A ceremony to remember
This wedding in Amorgos for Yannis & Maria is really something to remember! Among all the happy ceremonies I had the privilege to attend with my camera in hand last year, this one has a particular story: while I was in an appointement for another wedding photoshoot, I accidentally met this lovely couple. They told my about their plans to get married in Amorgos and…boom! The rest of the story is history…
The funny thing is that they never intended to hire a professional wedding photographer for their ceremony! I, for my part, never intended to go to Amorgos for a wedding! Yet, life sometimes rewrites the script and changes everything in unpredictably fascinating ways – isn’t that awesome? Their wedding was an unbelievable celebration of life…
At St Anna’s chapel, Amorgos
The chapel of St Anna would be the place where Yannis and Maria would exchange vows, for a lifetime. Relatives and friends of the couple gathered really soon in front of the small church, anticipating for the ceremony to take place. An Orthodox priest had prepared a table especially for the occasion, just outside the church: there were the wedding rings, the gospel and more…The only thing that was left were only a few moments just before the wedding!
Yiannis and Maria, two characters perfectly suited to each other, share their feelings, their dreams and their passion for life. They are blessed with each other’s presence. They are not afraid to say ‘No’, they are not afraid to say ‘Yes’. When you are truly genuine and you express yourself without clichés, this is radiated to the whole world around you. For me, this is the sign that makes me wish to shoot a wedding.
It was no coincidence that the moment the wind blew Maria’s wedding dress up, as she was walking down the path to the scenic little church of St. Anna – a perfect opportunity to capture the beauty and the rejuvenating atmosphere of that glorious day – won me the first Fearless Award.
Yiannis…Maria…I’m still looking for the magic I experienced at your wedding in Amorgos.
Thank you for everything!
