When Marita was a little girl and spent her carefree summers in Skiathos, her beloved grandmother’s island, little did she know that the Prince Charming of her dreams was actually very close by, as he used to spend most of his childhood summers on the same island. Years later, fate brought Marita and Pavlos together and love blossomed between them. It was only natural then that they should choose this very island to celebrate the beginning of their new life together, and more specifically a rocky islet near Skiathos for the wedding ceremony and Skiathos itself for the wedding reception.
The wedding took place on July 12, a specially chosen date, because number 12 has a symbolic value for the couple, who have been together for 12 years, and also because there was a full moon. They had been dreaming of their first dance as a married couple by the sea, with the moon shining on the dark waters like a silver river… ‘Moon River’ happens to be Marita’s favourite song, by the way. That’s why Pavlos made sure it was played when he proposed to her at Tiffany’s, New York, on her name day…
The couple, deeply fond of the island’s simplicity, wished for a romantic summer atmosphere that would create a light, fresh, and breezy feel. Fevronia, who deserves credit for the décor concept, used a simple and clear, white-dominated decoration design, with white Avalanche roses, white dendrobium and ivy, while the bridal bouquet was made of lilies of the valley, Marita’s favourite flower. The traditional little Greek Orthodox chapel where the wedding took place is the only building on the islet; of course, everybody got there by boat!
Pavlos was very elegant in his classy TOM FORD suit, while the bride was absolutely stunning in her graceful Celia Kritharioti wedding dress, which she had paired with gorgeous Manolo Blahnik shoes. The image of perfection was completed with the Tiffany’s solitaire ring and the Cartier wedding rings. It would be a shame if we didn’t mention the bride’s earrings and the groom’s cuff links (with his initials), that were custom-made by Alexandridis-Gallery Kappa.
The wedding reception was held at Skiathos Princess Hotel. The discreet gleam of the countless twinkling little lights was splendidly combined with the white colour of the wedding arch and the flowers decorating the long monastery tables on the sandy beach. The exquisite art de la table, the freedom in floral arrangements and the sense of flowing movement created by the ethereal drapes contributed to an impressive final result, which was exactly what the newlyweds had hoped for: a fairytale atmosphere for an unforgettable party!
Moreover, in this wedding I had the pleasure to work once again with the videographer Alex Stabasopoulos, while Fevronia Luxury Concepts should be given credit for the exquisite wedding decoration.
Pavlos & Marita, thank you for trusting me on the best day of your life!
