It has been an amazing year and an absolutely amazing summer… I know I may be repeating myself, but I can’t help it; I feel the need to stress again how grateful and blessed I feel for all those couples that have honoured me with their trust and for all the wonderful moments I have shared with them. There is no doubt, after all, that the couples’ trust greatly contributes to the best possible wedding photography results. I’ve often thought to myself, “Well, this was the best wedding photoshoot ever!” But when I think it just can’t get any better, somehow it miraculously does! And this feeling of thankfulness, fulfilment and achievement is getting stronger and stronger every year. Honestly, right now I couldn’t ask for more…
I have been to Santorini many times to shoot spectacular weddings, but had generally tried to avoid Oia, by far the most picturesque village of the island, world famous for its breathtaking landscape and its legendary sunsets, and therefore always rather too crowded and sophisticated for my tastes. This time, however, Mara & William, a lovely couple right from Washington D.C., had chosen to get married in Oia. So this was my chance to become better acquainted with the place. And I admit that I enjoyed every minute of my stay there!
The traditional preparations of the bride and the groom took place in a private villa situated in one of the most impressive locations of Oia, above the castle! As I was walking there early in the morning of the wedding day, I was intoxicated with the beauty of the colours and the magic of the place…
The ceremony was simply beautiful and the bride was stunning in her splendid, incredibly graceful and elegant low back wedding gown and her stylish Badgley Mischka bridal shoes and the bridegroom was equally elegant and handsome. Looking at them, as they were smiling happily at each other against the backdrop of the sparkling Aegean blue, I couldn’t help thinking what a perfectly matched couple they made. A perfect couple in the perfect place!
The wedding reception was held at Le Ciel, a wedding and event venue with magnificent views over the caldera and the volcano. The couple drove there in a very cool old classic car –an ideal choice for the romantic, elegant atmosphere of the wedding. After the ceremony the newlyweds had a wine tasting experience, which I found particularly enjoyable. It was an excellent idea given the fact that Santorini produces some of the best wines in the world.
I must also add that once again I had the great pleasure of working with the wedding planner Maria and her awesome team of Tie the Knot in Santorini, who had created both in the villa and in the reception area one of the best and sweetest decorations I have ever seen. This beautiful couple deserved nothing less!
Dear Mara & William can’t thank you enough for your trust & for choosing me to be your wedding photographer in Santorini! My warmest wishes for a dream life together!
